Annual
General Meeting followed by a talk by Melvin Smith - 'Chalk Downland'
The brief AGM will be followed
by Melvin’s talk. It was on the chalk downs of southern England where
Man first settled and created the landscapes that we know so well today.
Landscapes that are rich in wildlife of every description: a natural historian’s
paradise.

John
Buckingham – ‘A Naturalist in Pembrokeshire ’
In spring the magnificent
coastline of south-west Wales is a riot of colour with carpets of wild
flowers. Bird song is in full swing and huge numbers of seabirds are breeding
on rugged off-shore islands.
Thursday

Brenda
Holcombe – ‘A Journey to the Amazon’
The journey starts in the
Atlantic Forest of Brazil and continues to the heart of the Amazon at Manaus
and from there to the Peruvian Amazon at Iquitos looking at the great variety
of birds, plants and insects.

Patrick
Coulcher – ‘Natural History of the Isles of Scilly’
The Isles of Scilly are
situated within the warm Gulf Stream, have an equable climate, and support
a wide range of wild flowers, some of which originate from warmer climates.
Common bird species are numerous, and often relatively tame, but due to
their location the Isles are famed for their migrant species.
