Saturday 24 April  –  10:30am:      Pulborough Brooks RSPB Reserve      TQ062164
We hope to see and hear some early spring migrants, including nightingale, whitethroat, blackcap, sedge warbler and swift.
Meet at entrance to shop.  Free parking; toilets.  Disabled access.
Bring lunch and RSPB membership cards.

Saturday 8 May – 09.00am:   Footland/Barnes Wood, Whatlington  TQ763202
A half-day trip to this local woodland area, where we hope to see several species of warbler, maybe including garden warbler.
Directions:  Meet in the Footland Wood car park.  (Free parking; no toilets).

Sunday 23 May – 10.00am:   Stodmarsh TR221608
Another visit to this English Nature Reserve, situated in the lower regions of the north Kent plain within the Stour valley.  Hoped-for birds include bearded tit, Cetti’s warbler, swift, hobby and marsh harrier.
Directions: Take the A257 out of Canterbury. After about 1½ miles take a left turn into a minor road to Stodmarsh.  In the village turn left up a track immediately beyond the Red Lion.  Meet in the car park.  (Free parking; toilets).
Bring lunch.

Friday 28 May  - 8pm Darwell Wood – first nightjar walk   TQ696196
David Gasson will lead evening walks every Friday from 28 May to 9 July inclusive to  look for nightjars and other heathland birds. The chance of seeing and hearing nightjars has decreased over recent years as the trees have grown up but we may be lucky and glow worms are also possible. You may go on any of these walks.
Directions: Take the B2096 from Battle, turn right at the crossroads at Darwell Hole and the car park is a few hundred yards on the right.  Free parking; no toilets.

Saturday 5 June – 2.00pm:   Mount Caburn    TQ457087           NOTE CHANGE OF DATE
A hill walk over Mount Caburn, near Lewes, primarily for butterflies and flowers, but we have seen common buzzard here in previous years.
Park in public car park in Glynde village. Toilets.

The Beach Reserve should look spectacular, with the bare shingle transformed by the flowering plants, and hopefully the breeding birds will include little tern.
Meet at the Information Centre in Rye Harbour car park (Free parking; toilets.)  Disabled access.

Saturday 14 August - 2.00pm:   Pett Pools   TQ900143
                                     6.30pm:  The Queen’s Head, Icklesham    TQ878166
 Meet at Pett Pools for our usual anniversary afternoon. (Free parking. Toilets in Pett Level Village).
We shall take the path beside the Royal Military Canal to the Wetland Trust reserve in the Pannel Valley, where we will visit the hide, before walking back to Pett Level.  We shall end the day with a meal at the Queen’s Head.  Anyone joining at the pub should aim to get there at about 6.30pm.

Sunday 5 September – 9am:  Hastings Country Park - Fairlight    TQ860116
Meet near Information Centre for a half day walk (hilly) to look for migrants.
Free parking. Toilets.

Sunday 10 October  - 10am:  Oare Marshes    TR012647
We should get close views of a good variety of birds including several species of wader.
Suggested route: After Ashford take A251 which crosses M2 and joins A2, where turn left and, after a mile or so, turn right onto road signposted Oare.  In Oare turn into the Harty Ferry Road at Three Mariners pub.  Continue to end of road.   No toilets. (For toilets - after left onto A2 turn immediately right into Faversham, follow road to left then right. Immediately after going under railway bridge follow car park signs on left.  Rejoin A2.)
Bring lunch.
